When you’re a quintessential LA girl and your husband grew up on the largest island in the Mediterranean, it’s not hard to imagine that big blue bodies of water linger in both our bones. Trading shimmering seascapes for endless rolling hills has its own charm, but every now and then, we both feel that tug of ocean-y homesickness. This is the beginning of our ranch lifestyle transition.

Paso’s ranch life gives us sweeping skylines in every direction, but we still wanted a touch of that coastal energy—something to bridge our past with the place we call home now. That’s when I found myself coming back to something I’d had my eye on for years: an Endless™ Pool.
Our journey has been a true ranch lifestyle transition, blending the memories of coastal living with the beauty of the countryside.
As a lifelong water baby, I love to swim, but putting in a full in-ground pool on a ranch—between cost, drought conditions, and sheer scale—never felt practical. The Endless Pool solved that beautifully. Compact like a plunge pool but far more functional, it uses the Hydrodrive™ current to let you swim in place, giving the feel of long-distance laps without needing a sprawling footprint.
We had a blast using their online configurator to pick the depth, colors, and exercise add-ons. With the help of their mobile app and A/R, we could stand outside and see the pool in its future spot before ever breaking ground. Once everything was finalized, a certified Endless™ contractor handled the install. Watching it come together felt like ranch-theater magic—and yes, even the cows wandered over to supervise.

After that, the baton passed back to us: time to design and build the surrounding deck.
Dog-tested, Wife-approved

Moe had basically zero experience building a deck, but the contractor who installed the initial stairs gave him a few crucial pointers before heading out. Add in a handful of YouTube tutorials, and suddenly he was feeling brave enough to take on the whole project himself. I documented some of his progress—equal parts determination, sawdust, and “wait… how does this part go again?”
Out here, we absolutely rely on our Ryobi three-tool combo kit for ranch projects. Everything is battery-powered, which keeps things simple and portable, and every tool runs off the same rechargeable batteries (whether you own one or a whole lineup). For anyone who doesn’t love gas-powered yard tools—or lives in a state that’s phasing them out—Ryobi’s riding mower, edger, and tiller kits are great alternatives.
For the deck build, Moe leaned hard on the circular saw and the drill/driver from that kit. They were pretty much his right and left hands throughout the whole process.

And now? We’re super happy with our little oasis. Mission accomplished—juusssst in time for winter. But don’t worry: we’ll tuck it in and care for it tenderly until spring. 😉
