If you live on a ranch, you need a ranch dog.
Part companion, part early warning system, part unofficial ranch hand, a good dog keeps an eye on things. They guard the property, give you a heads-up when something goes bump in the night, and, if they’ve got the instinct for it, can even lend a hand with herding.
We’re only a little obsessed with our now 12-month-old Boxer mix, Venti.
Adopted from our local Humane Society in SLO, she was the runt of an eight-pup litter and just eight weeks old when we found her. Moe immediately thought she looked like a large macchiato, which more or less decided the name.
She’s an impressive jumper, incredibly fast, and pretty darn smart. A fantastic addition to the family.
